Psychology applied to refugee populations focuses on exposing High School students to practical applications of psychology, and mental health in a refugee context. Throughout this course, students will explore the impact of trauma on the human brain and different cultural approaches to mental health. Sample case studies will be appropriately paired with academic knowledge in order to solidify potential application to abstract concepts. This course would be helpful for those not only interested in the scientific study of psychology, but also those interested in humanitarian relief work. Instructor is proficient in Arabic and has 9 years of experience of working with Arabic Speaking Refugees both in the US and internationally.
